There are a number of ways to support climbing plants or suspend hanging baskets from the roof of a Greenhouse.
Many aluminium greenhouses have a bolt channel along the inside face of every glazing bar and this allows for the retro fitting of accessories using ‘cropped’ bolts, special narrow headed bolts which you turn 90 degrees in the channel and tighten their nuts to secure.
Using this system various accessories are available to facilitate tying plants up to.
One system is a hanging rail, this is a 40mm diameter tube fitted to the glazing bars using ‘saddle clamps’. The rail is good and strong and gives you great access to tie up your plants anywhere along its length.
A similar system can be done using a stainless steel cable – we call it a crop support cable – this is suitable only if your gable frame is good and strong as there will be pressure pulling on the gable when plants are hanging out of the cable. Fortunately our Greenhouses are good and strong.
Suspension eyes are nice stainless steel fittings which provide individual tying points. They can be used also to suspend things like lights from. The suspension eyes create a little space between the tying point and the frame of the Greenhouse, so these can help for running cables to support vines.
